Well, hello there! Today is the day we are going to show you how to change the color of your name in Minecraft! If you are bored of playing the game with the same standard character who has a plain standard name, then this article is here to help you out! Show your mates how cool of a player you are with some spiced up features you now know how to use!
We are going to focus on getting your name colored in vanilla Minecraft using/scoreboard!
If you are not aware, most servers tend to use plugins and mods to turn a player’s name a different color, and we cannot say it does not look nice, yet there is a slight problem. If you are doing it that way, you have to download hundreds of different files and working with them can be quite a challenge. What we have prepared for you today is easier – here you will only have three steps to take using Vanilla Minecraft! You won’t have to download a single thing on to your computer – no plug-ins or mods, and, more importantly, no ridiculously complicated directions!
Log in to your account in Minecraft world, and do the following:
- Type ‘/scoreboard teams add’ (Team name)
- Your team name is not of a high importance, it can be anything you want it to be! You only have to make sure that you are making it the color you want it to be.
Once you have created your team, you will need to join it. Please note that your name will only be a different color if you are on the team that you have created yourself. The command that will make you join your team is: ‘/scoreboard teams join’ (Team name)
After giving that command, you should get a notification that you have successfully joined your team. It can take a bit of time, so don’t worry if you don’t notice any difference in your name straight away.
Okay, time for the final step! Now, this is the time you should choose the color you want your name to be. Your team is all set up and the only thing left to do is play with the color scheme!
The command for that is: ‘/scoreboard teams option (Team name) color (The color you want)’
To illustrate how it works, let’s say you want your name to be yellow and your team name is ‘Skywalkers’. The command would look like this:
/scoreboard teams option Skywalkers color Yellow
And now anybody who joins the team later will have a yellow name! How cool is that?
Right, we are done with this. Now that you have completed all three steps, your name should become a different color. If you want to make sure it worked, try to say something in your chat feed. This is what it should look like:
<LookAtMeGo> Subscribe to me on Planet Minecraft!
If you want to get a list of all the possible colors you can choose from, type out: /scoreboard teams option (Team name) color
But wait – do not hit enter yet!
Press the ‘tab’ button and then a long list of colors will pop up in your chat feed.
Well, that’s pretty much it! We really hope this helped and we hope you will now have a lot more fun in the game! And if you are not satisfied and are still eager to change things us a bit, then why don’t you try changing your skin in Minecraft? With these, you will definitely become a #1 player and your teammates will be SO jealous of you!
