I am now listing down some of the icon packs that I personally use. Since I have been using Android for as long as I can remember, I have used quite a lot of themes and icon packs. Some of them were mediocre at best, but I also found some amazing ones.
Cornie Icons is one such example as it happens to be among my favourite icon packs, it’s simple, flat, and the material design makes it a lot better. There are cloud based wallpapers too, and the icons just look a lot better than so many other options.
Although the name suggests that this is one of the darker nova themes, it only applies to the shade of the colour being a bit darker. The colours are still there, so you can feel content knowing that I am not covering another blacked icon pack.
The Glim Dark is the icon pack I am currently using my Nova Launcher with, and it is also one of the icon packs that has enjoyed a long time on my phone. Considering how I get bored quickly, I can assure you that this icon pack is here to stay.
Cygnus Dark – Icon Pack
Cygnus Dark is actually an icon pack I just discovered, the Cygnus Dark – Icon Pack might remind you of some of the previously reviewed icon packs but the good news is that it is different. The icons definitely have a darker shade of colour, and on top of that, they are somewhat smaller in size too.
The reason why icons may look smaller to some is that there is no background fill, and to be honest, I actually prefer it that way. This gives the entire icon a cleaner look, and its pleasant to the eye as well. Cygnus Dark – Icon Pack is free to use, and comes with a lot of icons, and some wallpapers as well.
Two Pixel Light/Dark
The last two icon packs are the part of free nova launcher themes. Both of the mare made by the same developer, and the major difference is that the Two Pixel Light is white/translucent, and the Two Pixel Dark is black/translucent.
These icon packs don’t really come with a lot of advanced features, and I don’t really mind that because you get some beautiful looking icons. Both icon packs are free to download, and work with a variety of different launchers.
Tips for Best Nova Launcher Setups
For a lot of people including myself, making the home screen look good is the top priority. This falls on the advanced users’ list. I don’t really think I know anyone who does not use a custom launcher or icon packs to spice up their home screens.
It is not that difficult, to begin with, all you need is the basic apps such as a custom launcher, your favourite icon pack, a good widget, and your desired wallpaper, and you are good to go.
Below are some of thee tips for making your home screen stylish and functional.
Keep Things Simple
Cluttering up things is something that you find very commonly on iOS or other OS where there is no way to properly manage the icons that you have. Things are much different on Android; managing your icons, and choosing the ones you want on your home screen and the ones that you don’t is easy.
My owe home screen only has 11 icons, five of them are on the dock, and 6 of them are right above the dock. Everything else is neatly packed in one folder. This is the perfect recipe for having a clutter-free home screen.
Your phone is already loaded with widgets by default, however, the widgets are just the ones that you probably will not be using. This means that you need custom widgets that will make your experience better.
If you want to go with the DIY approach, then the KWGT, UCCW, and Zooper Widget are great options. However, if you want a more simplified approach, Beautiful Widgets, or HD Widgets will help you.
Use the Grid Size to Your Advantage
Every custom launcher that you are going to use will have grid size option. The option allows you to set the number of rows and columns on the home screen. I have seen many people wondering about the purpose behind this feature.
The higher the columns and rows you have on your home screen, the more icons you will be able to fit on the screen. However, you need to understand that if you increase the rows and columns, some icons or widgets may end up looking smaller.
In case that happens, you should just rearrange them the way they were before, and it will be fine.
There are thousands of icon packs for Android available on the Google Play Store, these icon packs work on almost every custom launcher that is available. However, it is very difficult to actually say just how many of these are actually good enough.
The reason I penned this article down is to collect all of the best Nova themes available into one list and help the reader navigate with ease. Most of the icon packs for Android are free of cost but some of them are paid versions.
Still, they are cheap enough for the majority of buyers to afford. In case you think I missed out on some of the icon packs that should have been on the list, feel free to comment below, and I’ll have them added.
